How To Pack In Cardboard Boxes?

Updated: Sep 7, 2022

When packing in cardboard boxes, we have to take into account a series of guidelines for the correct packaging, especially if we are going to make a long-distance move or want the objects to be stored for a long time.

Now, our specialists in Local Moving Company Phoenix, are going to give you a series of tips that will help you.

What kind of boxes do we need?

The first thing we have to take into account is the type of box we have. Safes are essential. The larger the size, the greater the weight they can hold and the greater the consistency of the reinforcement of the box walls must be. In this case, it is essential to have corrugated cardboard of a thickness large enough for its consistency.

But what is corrugated cardboard? Corrugated cardboard is usually made up of several layers of cardboard of different strengths, joined by a corrugated layer of cardboard that offers resistance. But don’t worry, most of today's boxes already come with this type of reinforcement, although it's a good idea to check it beforehand.

Why do we want to pack the objects?

Keep in mind that packing to store is not the same as packing to make a move. In this article we are going to focus on the packaging for removals, since we consider that this type of packaging should be the safest, since it is not only about packing and storing, but we have to take into account the factor of sudden movements that can be generated during a move.

What objects are we going to pack?

The first thing we need to know is what type of objects we are going to pack in the boxes for transport. If they are very delicate, we must protect them before putting them in the boxes. For example, if it is glass or porcelain, we have to wrap them individually. For this, we can use bubble wrap, newspaper, leftover fabric, or even small pieces of cardboard that we will shape so that they conform to the object we want to protect.

Keep in mind that the objective of this protection is to prevent objects from rubbing against each other to ensure that breakage does not occur when some objects collide with others. Don't skimp when it comes to protecting your items before you put them in the boxes.

How to place delicate objects in a cardboard box?

This is one of the most important parts when it comes to packing, especially when moving. The two main actions that we must take into account are:

Position inside the box

We must place the heaviest objects at the bottom of the box and gradually fill the box from heavier to lighter. Especially, if it is a very delicate material, we have to take this rule into account so as not to accumulate a lot of weight of products on top of each other.

Filling of the box

Another important point is the space that we are going to occupy inside the box. The higher the occupancy volume, the safer your delicate objects will travel. For this reason, it is very important to have some type of material that helps us to occupy the empty spaces that can be produced in a package.

Apart from the "shock absorbers" that we have mentioned previously, (bubble wrap, newspaper or magazines, small pieces of folded cardboard and fabrics of sufficient thickness), we should take into account the possibility of getting pieces of polystyrene that can help us to fill in the gaps that remain empty.

We must bear in mind that the objective must be that the interior of the box is as compact as possibl without forcing the objects inside.
